Over 200 leaders in the Boston legal community attended our kickoff event for the Women’s Leadership & Advancement Forum earlier this month at the Boston College Club, which featured keynote remarks by Vice President and General Counsel of the New York Public Library, Michele Coleman Mayes.
A recent Chair of the ABA’s Commission on Women in the Profession, Mayes delivered motivating remarks to inspire attendees to implement deliberate action within their firms and organizations to disrupt gender and racial bias and foster an inclusive workplace. Her remarks set the tone for the work the Forum is setting out to do in the months ahead. Our hope is that through collective action and collaboration, Boston can become a leader in the advancement of women in the legal profession.
Moving forward, the Forum will be running a series of programs to equip young women with the skills needed to advance in the profession and provide strategies for law firm and corporate leaders to implement within their organizations. Our next program, GRIT: The Secret of Advancement, will take place on Tuesday, December 5.
